We just love this school already and look forward to the years ahead! Our son is always very excited to go to school and can't wait to tell us all about his day when he is done.

I was a student here for a while, and I loved most of the staff but there are some things I agree they could change. The school has a great consept but they do need to treat every student fairly. I also know that they say that the food is fesher but they dont have stoves in the kitchen, so how can the cook it? But the food did taste better for the most part. I think that they could use some better learning programs. I was ahead in most things but instead of exelling I was kind of forced to stay with the rest of the class. And on the SAGE tests unless you were lucky and were in 5th grade the right year you would get stuck learning sixth grade things in your 5th grade year, so you didnt know anything for your SAGE test. I enjoyed most of the staff, my teacher was amazing but some teachers dont even have there teaching degree. But for the most part they are pretty nice and worthy of good praise. All in all I think if you really want to help this school in any way possible, then I would have your child attend, but read the other ratings too.

These are completely outdated and ineffective strategies, demonstrating a lack of current child guidance expertise and understaffing.

Parents are pressured to medicate. If they hesitate they receive daily phone calls in the middle of the work day with demands to get their disruptive child, or leave their child in an office (frequently unsupervised) for the rest of the day.. A child learns quickly that in order to avoid this very unpleasant situation, all they need to do is misbehave early in the day and Mom and Dad are forced to get them out of there (at least if they care about their child at all).

Do not enroll your child here if they have any, even mild behavioral issues. Rather than helping a child improve, undesirable behaviors will increase dramatically by the middle of the school year under Greenwood's outdated and unskilled behavior management approach.

My son attended here and they pressured me to put my son on medication they didn't wan't to have to deal with him, they called me everyday they told me they no longer wanted my son to attend there cuz they are understaffed and don't have the funds to deal with a kid like my son.

This school has wonderful core values if they only would apply them to all students not just the ones who fit into a society driven box called normal. My oldest child went here for a year and he had a drastic increase in behaviors. Their solution was for me to find a different school. They we well aware of his diagnosis and I had informed them how to handle the behaviors. They refuse to use techniques I showed them. My son was bullied and in return lashed out he got punished but they never corrected the other students I know because when he was sent home they other student who was picking on him was still in class. The director when I pulled my son the last week of school told me I couldn't with draw him unless I had another school lined up he was 5 at the time in Utah a child in not legally required to attend school until age 6.

Greenwood presents itself as a kid friendly school with alternatives to the standard regimented public school model. When you visit there, it appears to be a great place: new building with lots of daylight and cheerfully decorated classrooms Outside is not landscaped, but has garden spots and areas to play in the dirt. Seemingly every kids dream.

Greenwood is ill equipped to manage behavior issues. Consequences for a hyperactive student who has a hard time sitting still or staying in their seat, is to loose recess privileges ( and any chance to blow off steam) , get kicked out of Yoga and you guesed it, get sent to the principals office and sit in isolation.

Thus they attract students whose proactive parents look for alternatives for their child who is not excelling in a standard public classroom.
